The internal mechanism resembles a needle bearing with a ratcheting function. The roller pins are designed with a tapered profile—thicker on one side and thinner on the opposite side—instead of a uniform cylindrical shape. This creates:
Tightening Direction (Clockwise Rotation): Reduced clearance → Strong Clamping Force
Loosening Direction (Counter-Clockwise Rotation): Increased clearance → Easy Release
When the locking sleeve rotates clockwise, it drives the retainer cage & roller pins.
As the rollers engage with the 0.8mm inclined groove on the collet body, the retainer tilts due to the guiding slope.
Further rotation forces the rollers to move upward along the spiral groove, generating axial displacement.
The tapered design compresses the collet inward, creating a high clamping force (up to 280 kgf·m).
