What is Hydraulic Tool Holders?
Date:2025-07-15Number:1035
The principle of the hydraulic tool holder involves using two concentric cylinders with pneumatic expansion shafts,
sealed at both ends to form a cylindrical cavity. Hydraulic oil is used to fill one of the cylinders, and pressure is applied to the oil.
This pressure is then transmitted equally to every part of the oil cavity. The outer walls of these two concentric cylinders are relatively thin.
When subjected to pressure, they expand outward. By utilizing this deformation of the thin walls,
the tool holder achieves both internal and external diameter clamping. At this point, the thin walls uniformly bear the hydraulic pressure at every point.
Therefore, after clamping the inner bore and outer diameter of the part, the clamping precision is extremely high.
The hydraulic tool holder was developed based on this principle and has been successfully applied in the CNC machining industry.
Usage instructions and precautions for the hydraulic tool holder:
1. When tightening the hydraulic tool holder, ensure the locking screw is fully tightened.
However, do not tighten the screw without inserting the tool.
(When manually tightening the screw, tighten it until it stops naturally.
At this point, the hydraulic tool holder achieves optimal clamping force.
Tightening the screw without inserting the tool may cause issues such as the tool being unable to insert,
oil leakage from the tool holder, and reduced precision.)
2. When installing the tool, insert it into the bottom of the hydraulic tool holder and ensure it is tightly secured.
If the processing depth prevents tight contact, use a hydraulic collet. Without a collet,
do not exceed a distance of 8 mm from the lower end of the tool holder's inner diameter.
(A distance of less than 8 mm may cause the tool holder's inner diameter to shrink or deform.)
3. When inserting the cutting tool, first remove any moisture and oil residue from the tool holder's inner diameter and the cutting tool.
(Liquid foreign objects may cause the tool to detach during machining.)
4. Do not unscrew the sealed screws on the hydraulic tool holder.
(Loosening the sealed screws on the hydraulic tool holder may cause oil leakage and render the tool holder inoperable.)
If any damage to the tool holder screws or loss of hydraulic pressure occurs during operation,
do not attempt to disassemble the tool holder or insert foreign objects. Contact the place of purchase immediately.
Hydraulic tool holders are suitable for high-precision tools such as milling cutters, drills, and reamers.
(Do not use hydraulic tool holders for rough machining.)
