Pull-back Collets for Machining Clamping Applications
Date:2025-07-05Number:575
Pull-back collets are a type of collet serving as a connecting tool between the tool holder and the cutting tool in CNC machining. They are used in combination with pull-back holders. Primarily employed in drilling, milling, reaming, tapping, and grinding operations, they facilitate the clamping of the cutting tool within the tool holder.
Pull-back collets feature a design utilizing spring steel construction with longitudinal slots. This allows for a relatively large clamping range while maintaining excellent radial runout accuracy. Different collet models are designed to clamp specific size ranges of cutting tools.
Classification by Clamping Diameter Range (Specifications):
SDC06: Clamps tools with diameters from 3-6mm.
SDC08: Clamps tools with diameters from 3-8mm.
SDC010: Clamps tools with diameters from 3-10mm.
SDC12: Clamps tools with diameters from 3-12mm.
Classification by Precision Grade:
A-Grade
AA-Grade
AAA-Grade
Important Usage Notes for Pull-back Collets:
Never tighten the collet nut without a tool installed. Doing so will damage the collet. Improper assembly methods, sustained over time, can cause the collet to deform, lead to a loss of concentricity (increased runout), and potentially damage the nut.
During assembly, always use the correct collet. The collet must first be assembled into the collet nut before inserting the assembly into the tool holder. The tool must be inserted into the collet to a depth of at least two-thirds (2/3) of the collet's bore length.
